Overview

The governance

The Centre is governed by a simple and flexible management model and is based on the ethics and code of conduct of all those who work in it. Guided by a vision and mission, it has a framework of values and principles that ensure in its internal and external relationship the criteria of trust, integrity, transparency, objectivity, excellence, entrepreneurship, innovation and sustainability.

The Centre is governed by its bylaws and internal regulations, as well as by agreements, protocols and memoranda of understanding celebrated with external entities, or other provisions to which it is bound by law, contract or title, and by the deliberations and directives issued by its governing bodies.

Administrative and operational management is result-oriented, aiming to rationalization of resources and the elimination of unnecessary bureaucracy.

Although representative issues and final or official resolutions are under the Director’s deliberative power, the Centre promotes a close and direct decision making with the participation of all its members and staff which get together whenever needed.

Scientific and local community support and engagement are realized by a Scientific Council and a General Council.

The action

The Centre’s action is planned by strategic themes and overarching objectives that define the logical and conceptual framework: the programmes. Programmes are generally materialized through operational projects, each realized by working groups. Each group is coordinated by a Head of Group.

The Centre may also undertake a number of other activities which by their nature or specificity are carried on a continuous or timely basis and not under the scope of any particular operational project.
